Ghosts in The Attic

Stingray’s latest album is called Ghosts in the Attic and has 15 tracks on it, 12 of which are original tunes. Hamish found much of his inspiration for the album material on his last sojourn to the United States, where he workshopped ideas with local musicians in Shreveport, Louisiana.

During his time in the U.S. Hamish has performed and recorded with high profile players such as Jay Davis (Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, The Bluebirds), and Joe Osborne (The Mammas and the Papas, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, and many more). In 1998 he played a 3-month stint with members of Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s band in Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. He also got to record with Jerry Beach, whose hit song "I’ll Play the Blues For You" (made famous by Albert King) is reinterpreted by Stingray on their new album.

Many guest musicians have helped in the creation of Ghosts in the Attic. Pert blues and R&B piano legend, Bob Patient, chimes in with some super-tasteful playing. Bob brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the project, having been a member of Dave Hole’s touring line-up, and continuing to be an integral part of his recording band. Here I Am

This is the first of the Stingray releases (1997) and provides an early example of the diversity of song-styles that Stingray combines to create its unique roots-music sound. There are seven songs on this recording, which has had some airplay in the U.S. and Europe. Here I Am also earned Guitarist/Singer, Hamish Jacobsen, praise from Alligator records in the USA for his clean playing … and overall good feel’.

The PumpHouse Sessions

The Pumphouse Sessions (2001) is a 6-song disc done as a demo prior to Hamish’s 3rd trip to the US. It is of limited availability as only around 100 copies were ever pressed. This record - although done on a shoestring budget - and in a very short space of time - demonstrates a noticeable development in the band’s musical proficiency and song-writing ability. As a demo it attracted overseas interest.
