Hi trendsetters! Finally you can purchase a song at a time via Martian Music. If you hear a song you like on a podcast or radio or sumpin’, help us out and buy a copy. We’re in the writing process at the moment so, all things being equal, we should have some new tracks down for y’all to listen to a little later in the year.
Well I must say, I was really impressed with the quality of the acts at the last big gig for the metro leg of WA’s WAMi Festival. The Saturday Spectacular was well attended and well organised. We did our bit to entertain the punters in the beer garden in the late afternoon and I managed to stick around till almost stumps. Amongst the many good bands on show, my two highlights were The Dave Mann Collective, with their well-constructed tunes and SMOKIN’ rhythm section, and Gyroscope, who delivered a polished and high energy barrage of rock/punk tinged at times with a tiny bit of pop! Rock on WA.
A big cheers to all the podcasters who have been playing our songs. We have been getting plenty of pod play and we very much appreciate the support!
We are pleased to announce that Stingray have made it on to the WAMi compilation CD which features some of the best West Australian original music talent. They will also take part in the series of WAMi showcase gigs having been booked for the Saturday Spectacular on the 25th Feb at The Rosemount.
Well it seems finally our good mate PJ has a new website. And the best thing about it, is that I can now see I just missed a show he did at the Perth Blues Club on Tuesday. Bugger….. I’m sure it would have been awsome.
Here is a link to his new webiste:P J O’Brien Blues >>> Music from the soul
You’ll find the link also under our friends list.
Can’t believe we haven’t gotten around to linking to this site yet. He’s down in Freo and sells some wicked stuff. Check out the online inventory - Ric’s Vintage Guitars
Check out this site. The bloke certainly has some skill and a massive dose of dedication. I gather he has made a number of replicas of famous guitars - you can see three on his website: Stevie Ray’s “Number One”, Clapton’s “Blackie” and Roy Buchanan’s “Nancy”.
Stingray have the honour of supporting Dave Hole, WA’s own master of the slide guitar, at the West Coast Blues Club’s Christmas party on the 16th. Dave has been a great help to us in recent years, and we look forward to playing with him on his return from his ‘05 world tour. What a great gig it will be. For more info on getting your tickets, visit the WCBC gig guide.
A big thumbs up to our good friend PJ O’Brien, whose album, Blues People, we featured on an earlier post. He has won the Sydney Blues Society’s Performer of the Year Award for 2005. This means he goes to Memphis in late January to represent the Sydney blues community in the International Blues Challenge. PJ has promised to drop by Perth in Dec/Jan to do some shows. Keep an eye out.
